Simmons Bank on Tuesday has named Franklin Shirrell of Southlake, Texas, chief retail officer.

He replaces Adam Mitchell, who in March went work as president of Citizens Bank. Shirrell will report to Matt Reddin, who was promoted to president of banking enterprise just last month.

Shirrell comes to Simmons Bank after 22 years at Regions Financial Corp., where he most recently worked as executive vice president and head of consumer and business banking units in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and Houston markets.

At Simmons, Shirrell will oversee retail banking operations, including recruitment, sales and customer experience across Simmons' 200 branches and seven-state footprint.

"Franklin is a multi-disciplined executive whose passion and exceptional leadership make him an ideal fit for our team," Reddin said in a news release. "Simmons is in an unprecedented season of growth, and Franklin is just the kind of visionary leader we need to help us maximize opportunities and produce groundbreaking results."

Shirrell, a Batesville native, was named to Arkansas Business' "40 under 40" list in 2001.

"It's a great feeling to not only be back in my home state, but to also now be joining an Arkansas-based bank," Shirrell said. "Simmons continues to achieve unprecedented milestones, and I look forward to being part of its next chapter."
